How to Grow your Business in 2023
Are you looking to grow your existing business in 2023?
Are you looking to start a new business and want a roadmap for what you should be paying attention to?
At webmakers, we have worked on a wide variety of website, social media and digital marketing projects over the years which has involved clients across a variety of industries and sectors.
We have found that the website owners who successfully grow their business all have consistent habits and behaviours.
I’ve grouped these habits into 7 separate areas to provide you with an easy guide or checklist so you can evaluate what you yourself need to focus on during 2023 to help you achieve your business goals and targets.
They understand the importance of CONTENT…
They understand that their website is a platform for delivering content to their target audience in order to generate more leads for their business.
So, to reach new people and generate new leads, they consistently prepare new content.
‘Content is King’ has never been so true!
They add WEBSITE FUNCTIONALITY for CONVERSIONS…
Adding content helps you reach more people but successful business owners understand the important of website conversion rates.
They understand that improving your website conversion rate from 3% to 6% could potentially double your leads which should have a significant impact on your sales and revenue.
And so they constantly look at their site and think about what functionality could they add to maximise the chances of a site visitor making contact.
They leverage SOCIAL MEDIA…
You need to be where your audience is and so if a large percentage of your target audience is spending time on social media platforms, then that is where you need to be active too.
For us, social media has been the biggest growth area in terms of demand as it’s a different challenge for our clients than building a website.
Website content is easier for clients to figure out compared to social media platform selection and content creation so this is probably the area where businesses can improve the most in 2023!
They seek SOCIAL PROOF & REVIEWS…
So many of our decisions are informed by feedback we have received from a wide variety of sources and the same is true when it comes to our own business products and services.
We might feel we are offering an amazing product or service at a fair price – but do our potential customers know all that?
Successful business owners leverage 3rd party reviews to attract new sales leads.
So what are you doing in terms of getting these in place?
They commit to AD SPEND…
Relying on organic search and social media traffic leaves you in less control as it is less consistent and predictable compared to paid traffic .
Running ads to generate paid traffic can be turned on when you’d like to generate more leads and those same ads can be turned off if/when you have sufficient levels of orders to be managed.
Whether you go with Paid Search or Paid Social (or ideally, both), you are aiming for the same end result – being able to run ads where the cost of acquisition of a new customer is less than their immediate or lifetime sales value.
They promote OFFLINE as well as ONLINE…
Online promotion is still a relatively recent way of generating leads for your business.
Before that, businesses relied on signage, on networking, on local paper and radio ads, on Golden Pages or other directories, they attended events and sponsored their local GAA, rugby or soccer clubs.
While we now have a wide variety of online promotional channels and platforms available to us, it doesn’t make sense to ignore all of the offline approaches which successfully served businesses for many decades prior to websites and social media.
The traditional methods still work!
They discipline themselves to DO MORE, CONSISTENTLY…
Successful people in any walk of life succeed not because they put in a crazy amount of effort for a short period of time or periodically but because they put in a worthwhile amount consistently.
That is why discipline is more important than motivation.
Motivation is what gets you to the gym class in January for the first 2 weeks, discipline is what will keep getting you there after the New Year’s resolution buzz has faded.
“Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day.”
